1100 Architect

1100 Architect is a full-service architecture firm based in New York City and Frankfurt, Germany. The practice works across a broad range of project types, including living spaces, learning environments, public buildings, workplaces, and spaces for arts and culture. Its residential portfolio covers New York City townhouses, brownstones, apartments and penthouses, waterfront coastal homes in the Hamptons, Cape Cod and New England, Miami and Palm Beach, and modern country houses in Upstate New York, New England and Japan.

The firm has led the design of new education environments for a long roster of universities and independent PreK-12 schools, guiding institutions through change and growth with feasibility studies, master plans, space planning and design. Having long worked with multiple public agencies, 1100 has designed libraries, medical centers and recreation facilities.

It also teams with companies to design new offices, and describes itself as equally expert in designing new buildings from the ground up and in bringing new life to existing buildings through adaptive reuse, renovation and historic preservation. The practice launched in the early 1980s from a single-room studio in New York City, led by David Piscuskas and Juergen Riehm, and took its name from the suite number of that Manhattan studio.

A German studio opened in 2005, and the firm now operates from offices in New York and Frankfurt. Its New York office is at 853 Broadway, 15th Floor, New York, NY 10003, The Frankfurt office is at Moselstraße 4, 60329 Frankfurt am Main.
