About Studio-MLA
Studio-MLA is a California landscape architecture, urban design and planning practice with offices in Los Angeles and San Francisco. The studio describes a 40-person multidisciplinary team of landscape architects, environmental designers, urban designers, naturalists, geographers and planners. Founder and president Mia Lehrer, FASLA, has led the practice for nearly three decades, supported by a named group of principals and licensed landscape architects.
Its work ranges from private gardens and housing to parks, campuses, cultural landscapes, streets, transit, waterfronts, habitats and regional master plans. The public portfolio provides extensive evidence of work throughout California. Residential projects include Point Dume Residence in Malibu, Carmelina Residence and Brentwood Residence in Los Angeles, plus gardens in Beverly Hills, Pacific Palisades, Montecito and Rancho Mirage.
These profiles explain how the studio responds to mature trees, topography, views, indoor-outdoor living and specific client needs. Larger assignments include the Los Angeles River Revitalization Master Plan, SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park, Natural History Museum gardens, transit and rail projects, school landscapes and parks across Los Angeles and the Bay Area.
The practice combines planting, ecology, public access, infrastructure and long-term stewardship rather than treating landscape as a decorative layer. Studio-MLA also publishes named project teams, locations, completion information and awards for many major commissions, giving prospective clients concrete material for evaluating relevant experience.
